Handwoven Artisan Rugs

Sergio Martínez is a master Zapotec weaver from Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico. This style of weaving has been passed down through his family from generation to generation for hundreds of years. His masterpieces have been shown all over the world and have been featured in Smithsonian magazine and on the cover of Architectural Digest.

His work is a lifelong labor of love handwoven in the Zapotec tradition from Oaxaca to Sacramento where Sergio has lived for the past 19 years. Each piece represents the spirit of the weaver from the hand carding, spinning, and dyeing of the wool to the weaving of each rug. Each design is unique with elements that are significant to his native culture as well as to indigenous peoples worldwide.
